What the number means
The result describes how long the savings entered cover the gap between spending and income. It uses the same currency for every input, so the number works with any currency. The amounts stay in this browser tab: this calculator sends nothing anywhere and stores nothing.
The hand check is savings / (spending - income), using weekly amounts throughout. For example, 5,000 / (450 - 0) is about 11 weeks and 0 days. With 100 of weekly income still arriving, 5,000 / (450 - 100) is about 14 weeks and 2 days. Days are rounded down to whole days.
Monthly spending is divided by 52/12 to give a weekly average. The bar shows the covered weeks within a 52-week scale. A result above 52 weeks fills the bar; the sentence still shows the full calculated duration. When income equals or exceeds spending, these inputs produce no weekly draw on savings.
This is a calculation with constant inputs, rather than a prediction of future spending. Actual payment dates, changing income and one-off bills can change when a balance reaches zero.
